Andalucia is Spain’s second-largest autonomous community, encompassing its southern coastline (also known as the Costa del Sol). Once Spain’s poorest region, Andalucia – and specifically the provinces of Malaga, Granada and Seville – is now one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe, thanks to its beautiful countryside, spectacular mountain ranges, fabulous monuments and high-spirited people.
Andalucia boasts 500 miles of coastline and of which 70% are sandy beaches. Andalucia is also home of flamenco and bullfighting, which can be best enjoyed at the region´s countless ferias and romerias.
Gastronomy wise the vast coastline means it is no surprise that seafood plays a predominant role in the cuisine of Andalucia. Seafood and fresh fish play the largest part, with other influences also being taken from inspirations further inland. Perhaps most importantly, Andalucia is proclaimed as being the home of the traditional Spanish Tapas.
